Growing up in San Francisco, I was immersed in sustainability practices like conserving water during droughts, composting food waste, and saving electricity. These experiences instilled a deep appreciation for the importance of minimizing our carbon footprint and preserving the natural environment. My passion for environmental stewardship was further shaped by lessons in my AP Environmental Science class, particularly the concept of the tragedy of the commons—an inspiring reminder that collective action can help us sustainably manage our shared resources. Through my involvement with the Illinois Green Alliance and my fundraising efforts for the Green Schools program, I aim to inspire the next generation to embrace these values and work together toward a sustainable future.
