Description

Reaching the “Impossible” 4th Story in Source Zero Energy Multifamily Housing

Originally recorded for the New Gravity Housing Conference on 8/7/2020

Typically, in densely populated buildings, it is difficult to achieve net zero energy in a building that rises above three stories. Our team worked together to overcome the industry standards that state only low rise and low density buildings can achieve net zero energy. The end result is a PHIUS+ Source Zero pre-certified five-story multi-family urban environment affordable housing development located in the Chicagoland area.

This panel discusses the implemented strategies to help progress knowledge of net zero energy dense development in the field.
