Join Illinois Green Alliance for Energy Codes - The Key to Accelerating a Net Zero Future
Energy codes are an important tool for reducing energy use in both new and existing buildings. However, the current model code used by many jurisdictions, the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) , has moved very slowly in the direction of greater energy savings. As a result, many states and municipalities have started going beyond the IECC.
This presentation will feature three jurisdictions, Seattle, WA, Boulder County CO and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that are adopting and enforcing energy codes moving swiftly towards net-zero (in the case of Boulder County and Massachusetts) and which also feature decarbonization strategies (Seattle). In reaching the goal of net-zero energy use set by several states and the current President, these energy codes will lead the way.
